Hook Up An Xbox 360 Controller To An I Without Any Extra Equipment Sierra Mac Has AI believe the iMac has a mini-DVI port for use with external displays, but, there is no input port to complement it.It should have a line-in port for audio, but thats only the 3mm jack, no Not gonna work with your regular cables. The iMac LCD is built into the computer, so Im thinking you wont be able to use it with any other electronics of this nature. Now what you could do is buy a pair of speakers and find yourself an external display. Then go to Circuity City or Best Buy, or GameStop if they have it, and buy the 360 VGA adapter. Sells for around 30-40 by the looks of it, so it wont run you up too much provided that you have the other equipment to work with. The only problem Ive seen with this adapter is connecting the audio ends to speakers, but all you should need is another adapter or speakers with the specified ports. Ive always preferred using my Xbox on a 30-inch screen or larger running at 1080p. Why use it in your room Just turn your iMac around and rent some movies on iTunes. Works well. But if you prefer the Marketplace, I can understand that. In that case, why not haul your TV in there too All of this, and a mini-fridge, makes the perfect gamers lairdenlounge you could need. I doubt the newer model got rid of the optical out via Toslink, so you can just use that for digital audio. In addition, the VGA adapter I have has stereo out using standard RCA cables, so that should work too. I havent tried it firsthand, as I do have the optical hooked up. What was suggested in the second post was to get an external computer monitor or smaller TV and use that for video and audio, over the HDMI port (Google pictures on the Internet, youll recognize it) or using a VGA adapter. If you use a TV, it should have an HDMI port for video and audio input, and if youre using a computer monitor, youll either have to get an Xbox VGA adapter or an HDMI to DVI adapter, depending on the monitor. Just to clear some of those terms up: DVI is a wider, more square port than VGA, has more pins in it, and is a totally digital connection. What I had said I used was something like above, but I use the VGA port with a 19 computer monitor, and optical audio over Toslink for surround sound. The VGA adapter comes with a Toslink port built in, and I would think the HDMI out does too, or theres another way of getting it. However, if youre current sound doesnt support optical audio, the VGA adapter does come with stereo sound over RCA cables (looks like an older coax connector for TV, but push on). It is not HD as it only passes through little AV Cables but it is way cheaper than buying a new display. This box has an av input with the cable splitter and a USB running out of the box.
